Introducing WakeKeeper, the free, simple to use navigation app for coastal and inshore cruising. Designed by sailors built by sailors.
Coming Dec 2024With our intuitive interface, you can easily monitor your vessel's speed over ground (SOG) and heading in real-time. Stay informed and know where you are with clear, easy-to-read displays designed for optimal usability on the water, night or day.
GPS Speed Over Ground (SOG) is generally more reliable than Speed Through Water (STW) measured by paddle wheel logs due to its ability to account for environmental factors like currents and wind.
While SOG reflects the actual speed relative to the Earth's surface, STW can be affected by fouling on the paddle wheel, leading to inaccuracies.
Additionally, GPS systems provide more comprehensive navigational data and require less maintenance compared to mechanical systems, making them a preferred choice for modern boating.
Run Wakekeeper on inexpensive hardware. Take it with you when you move between vessels.
Use inexpensive mounts to keep your tablet or phone somewhere thats handy for you, even move your device from the cockpit to below.
Skipper J of SV Glowplug was frustrated at the lack of an app to use as a simple HUD while cruising with damaged instruments and the desire to log easily shareable routes with better social features than Navionics. The vision for WakeKeeper was born.
